Information for ACOE Accredited Optometry Program Students

Once you have graduated from an ACOE accredited School of Optometry (please refer to the attached list), you are able to apply directly to the Optometry Examining Board of Canada to challenge the national entry to practice examination – the OEBC. For test dates, pre-requisites, application forms, fees and other related information, go to www.oebc.ca.

All provinces except Quebec require students to successfully pass the OEBC in order to register in their province. After you have passed the exam, you are able to apply directly to the province of your choice. We advise graduates to contact the regulatory college in the province you wish to practice to find out their additional specific registration requirements (such as a criminal check, jurisprudence exam, etc.)
